Senior Originator (Route-to-Market and Flexible Services)

We’re looking for a Senior Originator to originate, prioritise, and negotiate optimisation agreements for Flexibility assets, including Battery Storage and Power-to X-facilities, across the value chain. Centrica has an ambitious growth agenda for our route-to-market and optimisation services, tailormade to next generation flexible assets across the Nordic region. The Senior Originator will engage daily with the Flexible Service and Business Development team in Centrica and take lead in setting the direction and executing our strategy for flexible assets across all Nordic Regions.

The Senior Originator will be part of our international and dynamic Route-to-Market department with Origination teams operating across all key geographies in Europe. Our trading hubs are in Aalborg and London, with local offices across Singapore, Stockholm, Hamburg, Oslo, and Copenhagen. The location for the Senior Originator is flexible, but preferably Nordic-Based.

The Position:

Working in a fast-paced high-performance environment, you’ll be reporting to the Head of Regional Route-to-Market Origination team. Your primary responsibilities will include:

-Working to expand our access to accounts across investors in flexible assets, renewable investors, corporate off-takers and PPA supply partners. Your focus will be on increasing Centrica’s market presence related to flexible consumption assets across the Nordic region

-Originate, prioritise, and negotiate optimisation agreements for Flexibility, including Battery Storage and Power-to-X, across the value chain to maximise incremental NPV

-Engage with industry participants and stakeholders such as TSOs, DSOs, market-leading customers, and peers/competitors to help us maintain a high-level understanding of market trends and requirements and improve understanding of how the market is valuating and accepting key risks including balancing, shaping, flexibility, Power-to-X optimisation, and PPA-related risks.

The Person:

-Experience of working with energy commodity origination, preferably within the power markets

-Experience working on Optimisation Agreements (battery, Power-to-X, etc.), renewable PPAs and preferably corporate PPAs, and a proven track-record in developing and closing large commodity transactions

-Experience and familiarity with non-standard power contracts and preferably with long-term renewable PPAs, and basic knowledge of project-financing and master trade agreements

-Experience working with cross value-chain initiatives, involving many stakeholders working across geographies, languages, and cultures, such as product or market development

-Excellent sales, deal structuring and negotiation skills – with your excellent sales, deal structuring and negotiation skills you’re able to structure sales work from targeting to execution, handling communication, and interfacing with the customer

-Structured and well-prepared, you’re able to plan and structure sales meetings and prepare pitches that effectively communicate our market proposition and display the full competence of our organisation whilst leveraging data and analytics to support your pitch

-Strong stakeholder management and deal leadership skills – you’re able to lead and work actively with stakeholders across all levels, both internally across the value chain and externally. With your keen commercial awareness and drive, you’re capable of juggling many different projects and tasks simultaneously while always working with a team-oriented and diplomatic approach. Alongside strong proficiency in English, you preferably speak one Nordic language, and you have the flexibility needed to work across assets and countries

-Industry expertise – you will have significant domain knowledge of the energy industry, including wholesale market regulation, market practices for physical and financial energy trading and specific knowledge of practice and rules for renewable assets including knowledge of reserve market setup and dynamics for flexible assets. Furthermore, you have a strong understanding of renewable finance and corporate procurement trends.
